Yes. Handshake AI’s data partnerships program is run by Handshake, the careers network founded in 2014, and as of October 2026 it advertises $100K to $4M for operational data from companies with at least 20 full-time employees and three years in operation. The program is much newer than the company, and Handshake’s job ads describe selling it through outbound calls, email and LinkedIn, so the checks worth making are about its terms rather than whether Handshake exists.

Why is Handshake AI contacting my company?

Because Handshake sells the program through outbound outreach, according to its own job ads. One, for a Sales Development Representative, Data Partnerships describes running “high-volume outbound (calls, email, LinkedIn) against a target account list to find companies with data worth licensing.” A second ad, for a Data Partnerships Representative, describes getting past gatekeepers to reach owners, founders, CTOs and heads of data. A cold email, call or LinkedIn message about your company’s data is consistent with how the program is sold as of October 2026.

You may also have been introduced by someone. Handshake’s referral page pays $10K to whoever refers a company, once that company’s deal closes, and says its team contacts referred companies within 1–2 days. If an advisor, vendor or contact suggested Handshake AI, find out whether they would receive that bonus.

To confirm an approach comes from the program, compare it with Handshake’s own pages at joinhandshake.com/ai/data-partnerships. You can also start from the interest form there rather than a link in a message.

Is the company-data program new?

Yes, although Handshake’s wider AI data business is established. TechCrunch reported in January 2026 that the AI data business had launched about a year earlier and had supplied data to eight top AI labs, including OpenAI. That is Handshake’s human-expert data work. Licensing records from companies is a separate program. Handshake’s own job ad calls the company-data team “a zero-to-one build” hiring its first 5–10 reps, and the blog post announcing the program carries no date.

Two numbers on the license page are easy to misread. It shows “$250M Paid out to partners” and “1K+ Partner companies” next to “1M+ Handshake employers,” without saying who the partners are. Ask how many company-data licensing deals have closed, and in what range they paid.

Does my company qualify?

Handshake’s published minimum is 20 or more full-time employees and three or more years in operation, stated on both its license page and its referral page. The payout estimator on the program page uses employee count, years in operation and country as its inputs, so headcount and age shape the first estimate as well as eligibility.

The wording is “full time employees.” A company that relies heavily on contractors or part-time staff should ask how they are counted before assuming it qualifies. micro1 draws its line at 30 or more employees; Handshake AI vs micro1 sets the two thresholds side by side.

What does the $100K–$4M range mean for a company our size?

It is the range Handshake advertises, not a quote. The license page says “Payouts range from $100K to $4M,” the blog says “Qualified partnerships typically range from $100K to $4M depending on the data,” and the program page says $100K to $4M+.

With its default inputs of 100 employees and 10 years, the program page’s estimator shows $383,083–$896,969, and labels it “an indicative estimate only and is not an offer to purchase your data.” Handshake says any payout depends on the data sources, volume and quality, the outcome of its due diligence, and your acceptance of its data licensing terms. How offers work explains the steps between an estimate and a firm offer.

How is a Handshake AI deal paid?

Handshake’s blog and license page don’t say whether payment is one amount, staged or ongoing, or when it arrives. The blog says “everything is scoped upfront, protected under NDA, and de-identified before use.” None of that says when you are paid. Get these answers in the agreement:

  • Is payment a single amount, or staged against transfer, de-identification or a lab’s acceptance?
  • How many days after each trigger is each payment due?
  • Does any part of the amount depend on due diligence that happens after you transfer data?
  • Are any fees or deductions taken from the payout?
  • Is the license exclusive, for how long, and can you license the same records elsewhere?

A job listing for an Account Executive, Data Partnerships, posted in August 2026, describes the role as structuring “commercial and compensation models,” which suggests terms are negotiated deal by deal. Upfront payment or revenue share explains how the common structures differ.

What happens to our data once it is transferred?

Handshake receives your data before it is de-identified. Its program page says the preparation “happens on our side—all you have to do is transfer the data as it exists today, and we take it from there,” and that Handshake removes identifying details and cleans records before confidential delivery to frontier labs. That keeps the work light for your team. It also means names, customer details and anything else in the raw export sit with Handshake until its process runs.

The same page says you decide what you share, partner companies are never identified, and data is used “for model training and evaluation only” and not published. The blog adds that Handshake uses the data to build real-world environments where AI models learn to execute tasks. Handshake’s trust portal lists SOC 2 Type II and other certifications for the company; it does not say whether they cover the data-partnerships pipeline.

Ask who at Handshake can see the raw export, where it is stored, when it is deleted, which labs receive the prepared data, and whether you can review the de-identified version of a sample of your own records before the full transfer.

Is this the same as Handshake’s $6-a-page document program?

No. Business Insider reported in August 2026 that a separate Handshake AI program pays individuals $6 a page, up to $30K, for work documents they own or are authorized to share, and Inc. questioned whether employees own such documents in the first place. The data partnerships program on this page deals with the company itself, under a licensing agreement the company signs. If you hear that an employee has been offered money for work files, that is the individual program, not an approach to your company.
