Each provider here says owners are paid again as their data is licensed to further buyers, and none publishes the percentage you would receive, as of October 2026. Upfront payment or revenue share? explains what this model trades against a fixed price.
What counts as revenue share on this list?
A provider qualifies if its own public materials, as of October 2026, say the owner is paid again as the data is licensed to further buyers. Data Licensing Report works from those descriptions, not from contracts. Replay also describes upfront cash, so it appears on the upfront list too.
Is a revenue share the same as recurring revenue?
No. Two different things can produce later payments, and only the first puts a provider on this list:
- The same data selling again. Troveo says owners share in the revenue on every sale, the first and every one after. Defined.ai’s Data Partners earn licensing fees driven by marketplace demand; its page names sales, marketing and logistics data but not email, chat or documents. Replay pairs upfront cash with a perpetual revenue share.
- Your company supplying more data. Scale AI, which is not in this table, says it designs partnerships so “there’s opportunity for recurring revenue”, with an illustrative value that scales with delivery cadence and sign-off on every data package; it does not describe a share of resale. Replay says new data a business produces “follows the same path, and continues to pay you”.
The first kind depends on buyer demand for data you have already handed over. The second depends on your company continuing to deliver, which means repeated exports and repeated approvals on your side.
What should I ask about the percentage and how it is calculated?
The percentage alone does not tell you what you will receive. Ask each provider what it is a percentage of: the gross price the buyer pays, or a net figure after the provider’s costs, sales commissions, refunds or taxes. Ask whether the share is the same for the first sale and later ones, whether it falls after a set period or volume, and whether you get a statement for each sale, showing the buyer type, gross amount and deductions, with a way to check it.
Timing and duration are the other gaps. A Troveo support article for its content-owner program says payouts follow invoicing and receipt of the buyer’s payment, with no fixed schedule, and none of these providers publishes payment timing for business data. Replay calls its share “perpetual” without defining it on its site, so ask what happens if the agreement ends, an exclusivity period expires or your company closes.
