LH2 AI Labs, a San Francisco data company, says it licenses code, records and recordings from the enterprises, hospitals and factories that own them, strips identifiers before the data leaves the owner’s site, has specialists review it and delivers it as training data to clients it describes but does not name (home page, data page, about page, as of October 2026). Its pages do not say how, how much or when it pays data owners.
Who signs the license, and which clients get the data?
You would sign with LH2, which then delivers the prepared data to its own clients. Its about page says “Every dataset starts with a signature from whoever owns it,” and that LH2 delivers the corpus “under the terms.” Its home page describes those clients only by type: “Mag 7 frontier lab · Seattle hyperscaler · Asian super-app giant · European frontier lab · Leading robotics company.”
The site’s footer reads “© 2026 LH2 AI Labs · San Francisco, CA.” When Data Licensing Report checked on October 5, 2026, the site named no legal entity or street address and published no sample agreement, so the company that would sign is the first thing to ask about.
What does LH2 pay data owners?
Its website does not say. The home, data and about pages describe no payment model, amount or timing for the institutions that license data (checked October 5, 2026). The one line about getting paid is aimed at individual specialists who write training data, not at data owners: “Top 1% of your field? Get paid to write the data, models train on.”
One published figure bears on payment. LH2 says “42% of what we ingest never ships”, after checks of provenance, de-identification, expert review and contamination against public benchmarks. If part of what you prepare fails those checks, ask whether you are paid for it and whether LH2 deletes it. How offers work covers what to compare once a price is on the table.
What does LH2 want from a company?
Working records of several kinds, from established institutions. Its home page describes five areas: enterprise codebases “with the review history attached,” “How a company runs, from intake to close,” “De-identified patient records, clinical history intact,” “Multi-speaker audio recorded in the field,” and “Filings and contracts, checked, with the audit trail.” Its data page adds “operational exhaust” (workflows and tickets) and “recorded work” (calls, meetings and floor video), and says “Hospitals, enterprises, and factories license the data they already generate.”
LH2 publishes no headcount, years-of-history or location threshold. Does my company’s data qualify? compares the thresholds other providers publish, and the video and audio list covers other buyers of recordings.
Who removes personal details, and where?
LH2 says it does, at your site, before anything is transferred. Its about page describes the step as “We strip identifiers at source, before anything leaves the building, and normalise the rest,” and its home page says “We remove and audit PII and PHI before data leaves the source institution.” The data page describes records as “de-identified inside their perimeter.”
That work would happen inside your environment, so ask what system access LH2 needs, who on its side sees records before identifiers are removed, and what its de-identification audit checks. What does “anonymized” mean? sets out what each provider says it removes and who sees records first.
Who sets the license terms?
LH2 says the owner does, though its pages word it two ways. The home page says “Data owners set the terms: usage scope, model types, exclusivity,” and “We scope access to the contract, and we revoke it when the contract says to.” The about page says “Nothing ships until we and the owner agree on scope, exclusivity, and permitted model classes.”
It also says “Every record traces back to an owner who signed for it,” and that data with “a single gap in the chain of custody” does not ship. The data page says records go out with the “consent + license chain intact,” so expect to document consent as well as ownership, including for people heard in recordings or described in patient records. Ask your own lawyer which rules cover patient records and recorded calls; Is it legal to sell company emails and records? explains what counts as regulated data.
How established is LH2 AI Labs?
Its founders are named; its founding date, funding and legal entity are not. The lh2.ai domain was registered on October 6, 2025. Its about page names founders Upneet Grover and Shobhit, without a surname, as “Second-time founders.” Its clients are unnamed, and a search by Data Licensing Report on October 5, 2026 found no independent press coverage of the company.
What should we ask LH2 before signing?
Start with what its website leaves open: which entity signs, how the price is set, whether it is paid at once or over time, and on what date. Then ask which of its clients would receive your data and whether the license can name or limit them, and whether “Data owners set the terms” means LH2 will work from your draft agreement or only its own. Also ask what access LH2 needs inside your systems and what happens to records that fail its checks.
